We began with a box, not a brand

MODESTLY started in 2021 with hijab gift boxes.

At the time, there weren’t many Muslim-orientated gifts that felt meaningful. I wanted to create something simple but thoughtful.

Something you could gift to a loved one that felt special. Something that had value in both purpose and presentation.

So I started from home with hijab sets and gift boxes. Whatever I could put together with love and care.

It wasn’t perfect. But it was real.

What I couldn’t find, I created

In the beginning, I wasn’t designing anything. I didn’t have experience in fashion, so I started by sourcing ready-made abayas from manufacturers who were already creating unique and well-made pieces.

That worked for a while, but when it came to plus-size options, it was clear there was still a huge gap. Most styles were either shapeless and oversized or too tight in all the wrong places.

Being plus-size myself, I felt that struggle every time I tried one on. I couldn’t find anything that fit the way an abaya should.

That’s when I decided to design my own. I created our first A-line umbrella-style plus-size abaya with proper width, flow, and room where it’s needed.

Through that experience, I also built the confidence to design abayas in several sizes. Ones that still reflect the same care, coverage, and comfort , just with different measurements.

We don’t do fast fashion. We do what matters

We don’t drop new designs every week.

We take our time.

Each release is intentional. Small collections made to last, not fade after a few wears.

MODESTLY is about quality, comfort and values.
